Tabor Outreach Update

I pray that God touches each of you this day and you feel his love and peace surrounding you!

I wanted to send out a note for prayer and contemplation to each of you. At this time, outreach to our community is of ever-increasing importance.

Following an introductory meeting with Interfaith Hospitality Network and our regularly scheduled Outreach committee meeting last evening, I wanted to share with you all some of the upcoming exciting outreach ministries and opportunities for service at Tabor. Please pray for each of these opportunities and please also pray about your involvement in them. Is God calling you to be a part of the Outreach Committee, is he calling you to help with one of these ministries/activities, or is he calling you to donate in any way?

Interfaith Hospitality Network: This is Tabor’s 15th year in helping out with IHN and 4th year of hosting families at our church! For the entire month of December, Tabor will host families in this branch of the IHN network. We will provide evening meals, transportation, overnight stays, and a big welcome to these families! Stay tuned for upcoming announcements in our church services and also a “ministry moment” from Sue Zomberg, Director of IHN on Sunday 11/18 during our church services.

NEEDS:

Kirstin Nice has stepped into the position of Coordinator for the IHN program at Tabor, leaving a need for a Dinner Coordinator.

Other needs include: moving crews (to help the families move in out 12/1 and out on 1/1), Supplies/Laundering Coordinator, and several volunteers will be needed to provide evening meals and overnight stays (stay tuned for a sign up sheet online and in the narthex!)

Tabor will be receiving an honorary recognition at the upcoming Keystone Soup Night for our 15 years of service to IHN (a program run by Keystone Opportunity Center). I will send a follow up email with the invite – if you are able to attend as a member of Tabor to accept this recognition, please let us know ASAP. Date: Thursday 11/15 4:30 – 7:30 PM (don’t need to be there the whole time) at Zwingli United Church of Christ – 350 Wile Ave, Souderton, PA 18964. We need to RSVP by 11/1!

BACK TO THE GRIND: Our ministry is continuing and will have expanded hours very soon to accommodate and serve even more members of our community! As we approach the winter (cold) season we have some pretty big needs in order to continue our service outside (this is the best way to reach passers-by). Please see below for what is needed and contact us ASAP if you can help!

NEEDS:

2 EZ-Up’s with sides: new or gently used to protect from cold and wind

2 propane heaters: again new or gently used to protect from cold and wind

Volunteers to help serve coffee and hand out devotionals on Monday mornings

Volunteers to provide baked goods and special treats

E-Z Ups and propane heaters can also be used for our upcoming Supermarket/Zern’s prayer ministries (stay tuned for more info in the coming months!) and for our annual Community Day!

We look forward to continued outreach to share the love of Christ with others!

Love, Kirstin
