Sermon Questions:
1. Why did Stephen recount for the Sanhedrin everything they already knew about their heritage?

2. In verses 39-43 their ancestors turned to idolatry. How is idolatry still a problem among God’s people today?

3. In verse 51 Stephen tells the Sanhedrin that “You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!”. Have you experienced a time that you knew you were “resisting the Holy Spirit”?

4. How about within the life of Tabor? Have we been guilty at times of “resisting the Holy Spirit”?

5. What evidence have you seen in your life that convinces you of the truth “that you belong to God”?

Further Study: Reread Acts 7:1-53
1. In verses 2-50 Stephen gives a brief “history” of Israel. As you read, jot down any questions you have about what Stephen says. Why do you believe Stephen began his defense with Abraham?

2. How would you explain the Old Testament to someone who has never read the Bible before?

3. Can you find anything “blasphemous” or untrue about Stephen’s statements?

4. What promise does Abraham receive and why would this require faith?

5. Stephen spends considerable time talking about Moses. Why?

6. What was the purpose of the tabernacle and the temple?

7. What does Stephen mean when he says they are a stiff-necked people?

8. What does it mean to have an uncircumcised heart and ears?
