“We Start with People Where They Are (Not Where We’d Like Them to Be” (8/5/12)

Pastor Blaik J. Westhoff,
Acts 17:16-34

1. What was it in Athens that got the Apostle Paul so “greatly distressed”?

2. Think of a person in your life that is engaged in some type of idolatry. Can you find a sign of something somewhere in their life that God is working on them?

3. As you pray for and consider the person that came to your mind in question 2; Is there a way God can use you share the Good News from right where they are?

4. If you yourself are engaging in some type idolatry, where is that place that is “exactly where you are” that God can free you through faith in Jesus?

2 Corinthians 6:16

1. Consider this question in light of the prevailing world view of today, “What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?” Is there still no agreement between “the temple of God and idols”?

2. As disciples of Jesus “we are the temple of the living God”. How does this knowledge that you are “the temple of the living God” affect your resistance to idolatry?

3. Contemplate the idea that God lives and walks among us and that God considers us His people. How does this thought impact your desire to walk closely with Him?
