“Jesus and His Disciples, Part 3” (8/25/13)

Pastor Blaik J. Westhoff
Mark 9:33-37
1. It was a simple enough question – “What were you talking about?” Why would the disciples freeze and lock-up over it?

2. Do you agree with this statement? “Following Jesus is about putting then needs of others first and sacrificing ourselves for their well-being.” Explain.

3. Do you think when the Lord looks at Tabor church He sees us putting the needs of others ahead of our own and that we are reaching out to serve our community where it matters most?

Matthew 25:35-36
1. Where do you see yourself in these verses?

2. In relation to this week’s sermon, how do these verses fit in with Jesus statement “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”?

3. Compare and contrast these two statements made by Jesus 1. “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” …and.. 2. ” I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
